Learn God's Heart

It is all about perspective.
The Bible is an opportunity to put ourselves in God's shoes. God is His Word. He created a book through men that translates a portion of Himself into words the same way He used a woman to deliver Jesus to translate Himself into flesh and blood. In both cases He is communicating Himself in way in which we can relate:
mental (Bible)
and physical (Jesus).
When we read the Bible, God is the main character. We are reading an autobiography of what God's creations has put Him through. There are plenty of third person characters that we see who are faithful, who suffer, who betray, who are generous, wicked, evil, stubborn, etc. With all the rich heart-wrenching and triumphant stories, it is easy to get caught up in the plight of the people and forget they aren't the main character. As we read, think of God's reaction to what He witnesses and use it as a guideline on how we should aim to live our lives.
